SOFT COLOURS 2024 # 2

Background

Mimi had a career in Theatre and Music for many years.

Her original plays-with-music

gleaned over a dozen press awards

 and ranged from aesthetic experiments

to social commentaries, mainly on women's issues.

As a visual artist, her values are the same:

She is someone interested in pure aesthetics

and in the social issues of our times,

 top among them:

climate imbalance

and the particular challenges women face.

Inspiration

Mimi Seton is of European and Indian origins.  Her love of Indian culture accounts for her attraction to deep colours.

Her softer palettes were inspired by her French grandmother,  a master embroiderer who was never far from her

vast collection of coloued threads.

As a former composer, Mimi has a mathematical mind,

with a natural love of Geometry and repetitive patterns.

Triangles, and ovals recur in her work most often --

arguably the most feminine of all shapes,

harkening to the vagina  and womb.

Her reverence for the Feminine aspect of the life force,

including the female body, from which we all emerge,

is a feature often seen in her Art and designs.

The ARTIST'S DESCRIPTION:

I build designs from my paintings and photos of natural forms, sometimes color-enhancing and collaging the images digitally.

My love is to combine the "feminine" and wild improvisations of Mother Nature

with more 'masculine' and orderly geometrical shapes to create a unique hybrid.
