Background
Seton worked in professional Theatre and Music for
over 30 years. As a writer-composer, her original pieces
gleaned over a dozen press awards. They ranged from aesthetic experiments to social commentaries on a variety of contemporary issues.
As a visual artist, she has a special passion for creating surface designs for fabrics and wallpapers.
Her focus in 2026 will begin with creating luxury quality scatter cushions in top quality materials, manufactured in the UK.
She became a British citizen in 2025
and is currently in London learning about the history and techniques of English textile makers.

Inspiration
Mimi Seton is of European and Indian origins
with several fine craftspeople among her antecedents.
Her life-long love of Indian culture accounts for
her attraction to deep colors
while her softer palettes
were inspired by her Swiss-French grandmother,
who was a master embroiderer.
As a former composer,
Mimi has a mathematical mind,
with a natural love of Geometry and repetitive patterns
Triangles and ovals recur in her work most often --
the most "feminine" of all shapes,
symbolizing the vagina and womb.
Her reverence for the Deep Feminine
(and the female body from which we all emerge)
is a feature often noticed in her art.

HOW THE IMAGES ARE MADE
Seton builds designs from her paintings and photos
color-enhancing and collaging them digitally
to create abstracts
She combines mythically "feminine"
elements from Nature (leaves, water, etc.)
with mythically 'masculine' geometrical shapes
Her designs have been called:
"gorgeous hallucinations"
"mysterious"
and "a cross between math and mysticism"
