Background
Mimi Seton was a multi-pronged artist
in Theatre and Music from childhood on.
As a writer-composer, her original pieces for the stage
gleaned over a dozen press awards in the U.S.
They ranged from pure aesthetic experiments to
social commentaries on the challenges facing
women and children.
Mimi's focus as of early 2026 is creating designs for luxury level scatter cushions, manufactured in the UK.
She currently lives in St. Leonards-on-Sea/Hastings.
Inspiration
Mimi is of European origins
with one Indian great-grandfather.
Most of her family are writers, editors and scholars
but there have also been several fine craftspeople
among her antecedents.
Her life-long love of Indian culture accounts for
Mimi's attraction to deep colors,
while her softer palettes are inspired by her Swiss-French grandmother, who was a master embroiderer.
As a former composer,
Mimi has a natural love of mathematics,
harmony, rhythm and repeating patterns.
She uses TRIANGLES & OVALS most often --
feminine shapes that symbolize the womb and vagina.
Mimi's reverence for the DIVINE FEMININE force
in Nature
is a feature often remarked on by art-lovers who respond to the sensuality in her work.

TECHNIQUES
Seton builds designs from her drawings, doodles, paintings and photos, mostly of plants.
She sometimes color-enhances
and collages them digitally
to create abstracts where the original element is no longer strictly identifiable,
but rather, has left a feeling of itself behind,
almost like a ghost.
Combining the flowing forms in nature
with the harder, regular shapes of geometry,
her designs have been called:
"gorgeous hallucinations"
"mysterious"
and, "a cross between math and mysticism".
